Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Local firefighters ready to help fight Alberta fires

By Lisa Goudy
A team of Moose Jaw firefighters is ready to go to Alberta if needed.
“We do have some people that have said if required, they would put their names forward,” said Rod Montgomery, fire chief of the Moose Jaw Fire Department. “There hasn’t been a request certainly for the City of Moose Jaw, but I think Western Canadian IAFF has just put out a feeler to see who would be available to go.”
The fire in Fort McMurray has caused the mandatory evacuation of 80,000 residents. Wildfires continue to burn in northern Alberta.
