Moose Jaw Times-Herald: CAST launches petition for LIP referendum

Some 3,500 signatures needed by June 30 for referendum

Seven weeks and at least 3,500 signatures.
If this goal is achieved, Moose Jaw residents will vote on a referendum on the local improvement program (LIP) at the fall civic election. That is what members of Citizens Advocating Sensible Taxation (CAST) intend to do.
“It’s challenging, but it’s essential and it’s rewarding. It puts the power of the decision making into the community. It’s a community issue,” said Coun. Don Mitchell. “We know the support is there, but we still have to organize and tap it and make it easier for people to access.”
