Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Lisa's Corner: Thinking of our neighbours in Alberta

For heat lovers like me, it's hard to complain about the last few days of warm weather we've been having.


I mean, how can you top this? We've got the sun, a dash of wind occasionally, and temperatures soaring to and above 30 Celsius in the first week of May. It already feels like July and I love it.

But there is something that dramatically takes away from the excitement for heat. Just look to our neighbours to the west. Thanks to extremely dry conditions and a lack of precipitation, much of northern Alberta is facing devastating fires and it's only the beginning of May.

Hearing the stories, seeing the images and watching the videos of the fires raging in Alberta is heartbreaking and scary. With flames towering above the trees and clouding the skies, it makes me shudder just to think of everyone affected by these.
