As a lifelong comics fan, there’s nothing Kalman Andrasofszky loves more than designing, writing and illustrating comics.
“I love being in the driver’s seat,” said the Toronto native who’s been a comic book illustrator for 15 years. “When you’re the illustrator you’re always interpreting. Even if you have a very collaborative writer, you get to talk things over, you get to throw ideas in the pot, you’re still kind of responding and running with the ball whereas being a writer I feel like everything starts with me.”
While having
that kind of creative freedom can be “scary sometimes,” he added that “part of
being a professional is getting over that. Nothing that isn’t a little scary is
worth doing.”
Since 2015, he
has also been the writer and illustrator of Captain Canuck series.
