Gord Hewitt was pleasantly surprised when the Moose Jaw Firefighters Association received a prestigious health care award.
“We never expected it. I mean, it’s an honour to get. Certainly it was the community as a whole that was responsible for it. That’s how we see it,” said Hewitt, president of the Moose Jaw Firefighters Association. “Jim Connolly and Dr. (David) Amies had a big push and helped us a lot.”
The firefighters received the 2016 Health Care Philanthropy Award for their work in supporting the effort to keep the hyperbaric chamber in Moose Jaw at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.
The award was presented during the Moose Jaw Health Foundation (MJHF)’s 2016 health care celebration at the Heritage Inn on Thursday that highlighted the achievements of the foundation, specifically donors, the new hospital, the MRI and the hyperbaric chamber.
