Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Harvest begins in Sask.

Producers now looking for rain to cease

By Lisa Goudy

It’s only the beginning of August, but harvest has already started in Saskatchewan.

“We are well ahead of where we were compared to last year. At this time provincially, we have just less than one per cent of the crop combined while last year at this time, we weren’t even thinking about harvest,” said Shannon Friesen, regional crops specialist with Saskatchewan Agriculture, based in Moose Jaw.

So overall we’re probably about two to three weeks ahead of where we would typically be the last couple of years.”
