Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Zika virus transmission in Canada ‘unlikely’


Individuals in Canada infected with Zika virus have travelled to affected areas

The Zika virus is spreading in parts of the world, but the Five Hills Health Region (FHHR) doubts it will transmit in Canada.

"We already have individuals who've been infected with Zika virus in Canada who travelled to a country where Zika is being transmitted locally. So those are the countries in South America and Central America," said Dr. Shauna Hudson, medicine specialist with the FHHR, adding that she didn't know how many cases of Zika virus have been in Canada or what part of the country those individuals are from.
