Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Timing is off for national carbon tax, says Wall

Premier Brad Wall doesn't think now is the right time for a national carbon tax.

"Given where Canada's economy is and given where our energy is, still struggling with $30 oil ... the timing for that wasn't right," he said. "The second thing was a commitment by the premiers and the prime minister that before we engage in any pan-Canadian climate initiative, any major initiative with respect to the environment, that we do an economic impact assessment."

Whenever there's a pipeline or major project, Wall said an environmental assessment is done.
