More water and wastewater billing issues from residents have prompted the city to want to come up with policy recommendations.

“What they show is we had breakdowns in our systems and I’m worried that the response is to impose more rules on the system and spend more money,” said Coun. Brian Swanson. “I think there was a time when we were doing a timely water meter replacement. To me, the key is when did we fell off the rails on that and why and what are the options going forward?”

At Monday’s executive committee meeting, councillors voted in favour of Swanson’s motion for city administration to prepare a report detailing the history and future options for a water meter replacement program.
