Minimum wage workers are making 20 cents more than they were on Sept. 30.

As of Oct. 1, the minimum wage in Saskatchewan was increased from $10 an hour to $10.20 an hour.

“It would still be pretty difficult to live on minimum wage if anyone sat down and looked at the issue. 1. This should be a starting point for the government to look at I have worked at the same place for 10 years and I make 17.60 an hour when I started there I was making 6.85 to start as it is at this wage we are living pay cheque to pay cheque with our bills and shelter and food we are basically just scrapping by and with 3 kids to look after it really isn't easy I have always worked hard to make it so that we didn't have to sit and receive social assistance (not that there is anything wrong with getting the help when you need it) I think about how hard it is living on my wage and I cant even begin to understand how people on minimum wage are doing it even in social housing we still come up late with some of our rent now I don't have any indulgences either I don't drink do drugs or ever go out its just home and work and forever finding free things to do with my kids even our gas it sits at 1/4 tank for the week cause even that expense is adding to the heap of bills we get buried under every month even xmas if it was for my parents sending me money and the generosity of the salvation army our kids would have had a sad xmas harder months yet we find ourselves visiting our local food bank and it is disheartening some months because there are times I would have to go there after a shift in my uniform and I think to myself I wish I just made a little more just to get us by my heart goes out to all those living on minimum wage cause I have no clue how they are getting by if I am having such a hard time
