The Times-Herald school supplies drive is underway this year.

“Once we’ve collected the supplies, the Times-Herald staff comes down and separates it into different piles,” said Times-Herald advertising manager Glenn Haug. “We separate it evenly between the two divisions … It’s up to the discretionary use of the school boards to divide them out as they see fit. We do not give out supplies here. We are just a depot for collecting them.”

He added Staples is also collecting supplies in the 2013 school supplies drive. He said usually between 20 and 30 boxes of supplies are collected between the Times-Herald and Staples. If a student doesn’t have supplies because the parents can’t afford it or if the family recently moved to the city, the supplies are distributed to the students in need.
