Council discussses outstanding issues at length regarding the development

Councillors had mixed feelings regarding outstanding issues with the Civic Centre Plaza developer.

Following discussions, failed amendments, defeated motions and a passed motion, the majority of council voted to refer the motion from the July 22 executive committee meeting minutes back to executive committee.

The original motion was for council to grant city administration to “settle the potential liabilities with Civic Centre Plaza Inc. over the development for no greater than $150,000…”

It added the agreement would also include two water line connections, one sanitary storm sewer connection with a manhole, previously approved funds of $120,000 for the storm sewer and for the settlement to be funded from proceeds of the property sale at approximately $2.08 million.
