People who don’t think they can afford a home might be wrong.

Under the CCL Mortgage Assistance Plan for the new low-income housing development, south of Warner Street just off Ninth Avenue Southwest, the townhouses have mortgage assistance to help with down payments and monthly payments.

"They still have to get their own mortgage, which we help them with, but in getting that mortgage you have to earn a certain amount to qualify,” said NewRock Developments president Cam Ens. “But because of our program, that amount that you have to earn is brought down a little bit. So where someone might not have thought they could afford it, with our program they might be able to.”

He said the Creekstone Villas development, located between Ninth Avenue and 11 Avenue behind Warner Street, is set for launching the sales for the project sometime in early September.
