Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Concerts, shows big draws for 2013 Hometown Fair

Fair chair says attendance was higher than last year’s event

As he picked up a large axe, Darren Dean eyed his target.

After being cheered on by the crowd, he threw his axe right into the bull’s-eye.

“My favourite part is actually watching the reaction of the crowd, seeing the smiles on their faces. I mean it’s great to entertain people,” said Dean after the first West Coast Lumberjack show at the Hometown Fair on Saturday at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds. “My favourite event is the axe throwing.”

While the company is in its 31st year, Dean said he’s owned the company for the last six years. He said the Moose Jaw show was the small version of the show.
