 "The fire department urges everybody to maintain fire safety philosophy so that we have a fire safe year going into the New Year," said Albert Headrick, deputy chief for Regina Fire and Protective Services. "We hate to see any kind of tragic happen around the festive season.

"If you’re out and about, please stay off the ice. It is not safe and this balmy weather that we’ve had and this amount of snow can be very deceiving.

"We’re just asking everyone to make sure that they are very fire safe … so that we have a fire safe year going into the new year."
