Mosaic Place and YaraCentre are looking for a 103.8 per cent funding increase from the city for 2016.
"(The low dollar has) had a major effect on our 2015 operations and I can't see that changing in 2016," said Scott Clark, general manager of Mosaic Place at Monday's budget committee meeting immediately following a council meeting.
"Fewer acts are touring Canada at this point as a result of the weaker dollar. It makes more sense to stay in the States or stay in Europe or Australia ... We are feeling about a third of the offers we'd normally feel right here."
