Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Lisa's Corner: R-rating doesn't always equal good or bad

I'm worried about the trend that 'Deadpool' will set in the movie industry, but not necessarily for the reasons you might think. 

Last weekend, many people herded to see what Entertainment Weekly (EW) called an "ultra violent film" - 'Deadpool.'

Rated R - and now the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time - Ryan Reynolds' film was a surprise hit at the box office. Featuring plenty of explicit violence, crude sexual humour, graphic nudity (such as, so I've heard, a nude male fight scene) and obscene language, it certainly won't be for everyone, (including myself as I have no interest in seeing this film. In fact, instead of rushing to the theatre to see it last Friday, I had a lovely time at SCRAPS' first annual Fur Ball event featuring a three-course dinner with harp music, a fun dance and a silent auction.)

But back to 'Deadpool.' R-rated films aren't for everyone, but that doesn't mean you'll never enjoy them.
