Canadian Light Source scientist speaks in Moose Jaw as part of Canada150 series

Every year, scientists from around the world come to Saskatchewan to conduct experiments using light.

Wednesday, Moose Javians had a chance to learn about it.

“There’s this amazing science laboratory in Saskatoon working on solving problems that are important to Canada and everyone in it,” said Dr. Robert Blyth, science project manager at Canadian Light Source (CLS) in Saskatoon, while speaking to a crowd at the Moose Jaw Public Library on Wednesday.

“It’s the only one in Canada because it’s so expensive, somewhere close to $400 million.”

Blyth was in Moose Jaw for a series to mark Canada’s 150th birthday put on by the Saskatchewan Festival of Words. He talked about the science that affects everyone through work to produce light using a synchrotron.
