Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Year in Review: The road to hyperbaric victory

It was a long journey for the hyperbaric chamber to be included in the new hospital.

In 2013, the Government of Saskatchewan announced that the hyperbaric chamber would not be included in the new hospital. This, said Premier Brad Wall, was based on a recommendation from the Five Hills Health Region (FHHR) based on numbers that indicated it wasn't being used often enough. The FHHR stated that 196 treatments were given to 18 patients in 2014.

This decision didn't rest well with many Moose Jaw and area residents. The chamber, used to treat carbon monoxide patients and burn wounds, is the only chamber between Edmonton and Toronto.
