Do you remember where you were when Hurricane Katrina hit?
Even if your answer is no, you'll probably remember seeing images, watching video footage and reading all of the tragic stories
that accompanied this natural disaster. A total of 1,833 people were killed in the hurricane that submerged four-fifths of
New Orleans.
Classified as one of the deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States, Hurricane Katrina was a Category 5 Hurricane
with the highest winds recorded at 280 kilometers per hour. The storm first formed over the Bahamas on Aug. 23, 2005.
On this day 10 years ago, evacuations were underway and early in the morning on Aug. 29, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.
