Moose Jaw Times-Herald: Humane Society hosts car bashing fundraiser

By Lisa Goudy

People will have the chance to pick up a sledgehammer and whack a vehicle into oblivion for a good cause.

The Moose Jaw Humane Society will have its second annual TAILgate party at the Moose Jaw Car Show and Shine in Happy Valley Park between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on July 21.

For $5, people can make three hits on the car donated by Silver Star Salvage. All proceeds will go towards the care of the animals at the local shelter.

“It’s just a really fun summer fundraiser,” said Karla Pratt, fundraising and promotions co-ordinator at the Moose Jaw Humane Society. “With summer holidays, a lot of people are away and a lot of our regular volunteers aren’t around, but there are a couple of us that can show up to the shelter and just sit there. It’s really easy to run and there’s virtually no cost to us either.”
