Like it or not, the first phase of the local improvement program (LIP) for cast iron water main replacement is coming soon.
The Saskatchewan Municipal Board (SMB) granted approval to the City of Moose Jaw's application for the 2015 LIP for replacing the required work that will see residents affected by the work pay 30 per cent of the cost and all residents pay the remaining 70 per cent.
"We're just trying to implement these programs in the most cost-effective way possible for everybody and every citizen is really impacted by this because some people are contributing directly through taxes and some people are contributing direct through local improvement," said city manager Matt Noble.
