With all seven councillors present at Monday's budget committee meeting, the City of Moose Jaw now has a budget.
If given final council approval, residents will see a 1.23 per cent tax increase to generate an additional $299,509 for the city's operating and capital budgets. As well, $546,215 or the equivalent of 2.25 per cent of municipal taxation will be allocated to cast iron water main renewal on an ongoing basis. The motion moved by Coun. Candis Kirkpatrick also stated that Monday's motion would supersede the same motion from the March 7 meeting.
Prior to Kirkpatrick making the motion, Brian Acker, director of financial services, detailed the options that budget committee had given the defeated budget from last week.
