Committee hears city position and affected resident concerns with proposed 2016 program

Many residents came out Tuesday night for the Saskatchewan Municipal
Board (SMB) hearing on the city's proposed local improvement program
(LIP).
"The purpose of the hearing ... is to give taxpayers the opportunity
to raise their concerns about the project based on two questions," said
Lise Gareau, director of the SMB. "What the committee has to decide then
is what is the benefit of the community as a whole versus the
properties being assessed and the second question is, 'Are the costs
shared equitably between the taxpayers?'" It's basically to determine
benefit and equity."
