I can't imagine what it would be like to be sexually exploited and I hope I never have to.
Unfortunately, this is not always the case for women and men, girls and boys. According to the Sexual Assault Services of
Saskatchewan (SASS) website, one of every 17 Canadian women is raped at some point in her life with girls and young women
between the ages of 15 and 24 being the most likely victims.
SASS also says that 80 per cent of assaults
happen in the victims home, 70 per cent of rapes are done by someone who
knows
the victims, 50 per cent of rapes happen on dates, 62 per cent of
victims are physically injured in the attack and nine per
cent are severely beaten or disfigured. What's more is that
Statistics Canada reports one in four girls and one in eight boys
have been sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old.
