The environment advisory committee report caused quite a
stir at Monday’s council meeting.
Only one item required council approval in the minutes – the
proposed 2015 budget allocations for the solid waste 2015 recycling
initiatives. The proposed 2015 expenditures were $52,500. The fund has been in
place for at least a decade.
“It’s
a fund generated from the landfill, which was dedicated to promote more waste
reduction through recycling initiatives. That was the broad purpose,” Coun. Don
Mitchell told the Times-Herald this week.
