Mayor says decision was “without cause”

Garry McKay said he’ll miss co-workers and working with the community.
On Friday the city announced that council decided to sever city manager McKay’s contract with the city. After almost 38 years
with the city, his last day of work was on Thursday.
“Initially I was surprised. I got notified early (Thursday) morning,” said McKay, who will be 60 years old in December. “I
didn’t see it coming but … I’m not leaving bitter, absolutely not. I had an employment contract and I signed the contract
and council chose to exercise that and that’s their right.”
He said in August he would’ve been with the city for 38 years, 11 of which were spent as city manager. He said he would need
time to “digest this.”
