Harvest in the Moose Jaw area has been wrapped up for a few
weeks and the crops look pretty good.
“We mainly see lentils — the various types of lentils — and this
year the quality overall is quite good,” said Darren Lemieux, trader and market
analyst at Simpson Seeds Inc.
He said the good quality came from all regions of this area,
although some areas had more diseases because of the thunderstorms and hail
that bruised the plants. Some damage was seen in the southwest and western
areas of the province, but Lemieux said they were “fairly lucky” that the crops
are of good quality.
