The upcoming Capital One Canada Cup Moose Jaw 2012 at Mosaic Place is expected to draw more than 35,000 people.
“Canada’s best men’s and women’s
curling teams will battle on the ice to … represent Canada at the next
Olympic games,” said
Danielle Sicinski, host committee chair for the Canada Cup of
Curling to council during Monday’s meeting. “Ticket sales are
going really well and we’re very optimistic Mosaic Place will
experience capacity crowds.”
After Sicinski and Rob Dewhirst, event
manager for the Canada Cup from the Canadian Curling Association
addressed council,
council voted to approve a community partner grant to the Canadian
Curling Association in the amount of $9,000 in funding
to support the event.
