As she told her story, a voice said, “Change is like a song you can’t hold back.”
Suma from Nepal was one of the nine girls featured in the film Girl Rising that was shown at the Mae Wilson Theatre at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre on Sunday, which was International Women’s Day.
At age of six, Suma was forced into bonded labour. After years of hard labour and three masters, she finally learns to read. That is the first step on a journey that leads her to be free and to help free others.
