Death is a curious paradox for most
people. We all experience death at some point. While many people
typically fear death,
it’s also something we’re fascinated with because it’s the
unknown. With the Saskatchewan Hospice Palliative Care conference
taking place since Wednesday, the topic has certainly been on my
mind.
But I don’t think we have to be health care
professionals or work in a profession that deals with death to be there
for someone
in mourning, including ourselves. From the point of view of
someone who isn’t an expert by any means on the subject, I think
our experiences are our best guide to how to cope with loss.
