Moose Jaw Times-Herald: New council takes oath of office

The new council took their oath of office Tuesday night in a ceremony at city hall in front of provincial court judge Margaret Gordon.

“An ancient and honourable tradition is the taking of an oath,” said Gordon. “The purpose of the oath is … to remind the councillors of their responsibility, to act ethically and that they hold a position of trust.”

Mayor Deb Higgins was the first to take the oath to “truly, faithfully and impartially to the best of (her) knowledge and ability perform the duties of this office.”
