In 2014, the clock at the top of city hall will turn 100.

Built in 1913, the clock was named Big Cliff after city maintenance employee Clifford Simpson in 1993. The clock was first set in motion at 10 a.m. on Aug. 7, 1914.

“It’s an internal thing at the end of the day. It’s not a public thing,” city operations manager Kelly Mentanko said of the clock's nickname.
